The Role of the Event Manager

What is the role of an event manager?

An event manager plans, coordinates and execute an event. Most times they are involved in more activities such as branding, marketing and designing the event.

The role requires some series of activities and the main aim is to deliver an event sucessfully within clients budget, timeframe and quality.




Event Managers have the responsibility of working behind the scenes to make it happen. Events varies from exhibitions, conferences, product launches to weddings, and concerts.

if you are looking into this job as a career possible skills that would make you an exceptional event planner, organiser or manager are good planning, attention to details, listening and communication skills amongst other things. And also you have to be creative and be a team player.

As the event management industry is evolving, this would also require the event team to update their skills and use of software and innovative media applications.

The tasks can be broken down to phases depending on the type and size of the event.
